Through my IB Art journey, I have developed a body of artworks which explore several different ideas but still relate to the overall theme of fleeting nature of memory. My art is often shaped by my personal experiences and views on the world, so this theme was approach through several different ways – by exploring Grief, shared experiences, and personal perspectives. While I mainly explored the medium of digital art, I also experimenting traditional mediums, such as the using sketches and coloured pencils before translating it digitally. Through this artistic journey I have both explored my personal experiences and emotion from different techniques.
My aim was to depict the way experiences slip away over time. Mirroring the way memories exist in a delicate dream-like state. This concept is visually represented through creating a setting with a dreamlike atmosphere. The artworks were inspired by my personal grief depicting the journey of processing grief. Which reflects an experience were emotional turbulence and the subtle moments of strength and vulnerability often go unnoticed. These artworks aim to depict how grief may often be unseen by others, but it is no less valid. When we take time to mourn what we have lost, we honour the parts of our lives. The focus of these artworks was to convey emotion through subtle details. I aimed to evoke the weight of emotions that exist beyond the surface. The artistic intention is to connect personal narratives. Inspired by Alphonse Mucha. I embraced the elegance of Art Nouveau, to incorporate their techniques. As seen in the Golden Hour artwork, I aimed to bridge the gap between historical storytelling and personal experience. By combining mythology with personal themes, I sought to explore the timeless nature of human emotion. My pieces are tied to my personal experiences and artistic inspiration, through aspiring artists shaping the way the way I use techniques to represent my ideas.
I aimed to capture the essence of my artworks through my exhibition by recreating the space in which I create. The artworks are organised as if they were poster inspirations from my room, mimicking the way I surrounded myself with artistic influences for a creative workflow. The installation serves as a representation of both my emotional and physical environment allowing the audience to gain an insight into my creative process. By curating the exhibition in this way invites the viewer to engage with what my inspiration are this approach connects more of a personal and immersive experience.
